About this event
Join us on Sunday April 19th for the return of our Spring Rally!
The Fall 2024 Dow Rally took us on a beautiful course into Southern New Hampshire (look out NCR!) that was spoiled only by lousy weather. Since you didn't get a great view with the windshield wipers flapping back and forth we are going to do it again, hoping for better weather. There will be some differences in the route and, of course, completely different gimmick questions (maybe some repeats?)
This is a great event for NER newcomers or those who want to stuff a bunch of kids in the backseat of a 911 (OK, you can come in a Macan. Heck, you can come in a Honda Pilot if you have to.). After the rally we will have a buffet lunch at the Billiards Cafe while we tabulate results and announce winners. And you can enjoy a game of pool and an adult beverage if you wish.
Here's what our Comm's Director Darin had to say about this...
"Spring in the Northeast region of United States feels like a well-earned
reward from Mother Nature for successfully surviving the cold and dreary
winter months of the calendar. As vibrant colors are reintroduced to flower
beds, windows begin to crack open, snow shovels are relegated to their
rightful place deep in the back of the garage, and the melodic sounds of
chirping birds return, so do NER rallies!
Please join fellow club members for a magical and metaphorical “victory
lap” at the NER Spring Rally on Sunday, April 19 th where we will, among
other things tour some beautiful New Hampshire villages.
For the uninitiated, the NER Spring Rally is a “gimmick rally”. It is
somewhat like a navigational rally, in that it requires route following, but the
determination of winners does not depend on driving speed, duration or
arrival times. Instead, the NER Spring Rally requires drivers, navigators
(and passengers) to participate in a “gimmick” – following instructions,
answering tricky questions. While the NER Spring Rally is somewhat competitive, it is
designed to be, and certainly will be, FUN!
Because the Spring Rally is not a Porsche “performance event,” NER
members are allowed to participate using – gasp! – non-Porsches,
including family vehicles with character and patina (e.g., complete with
proudly displayed dog hair and forgotten lunch boxes, the contents of which
now resemble quasi-offensive science projects).
After the rally, we will have a buffet lunch at the Billiards Cafe while we
tabulate results and announce winners. Of course, you can enjoy a game
of pool and/or an adult beverage if you wish.
We can't guarantee perfect weather but we guarantee fun and camaraderie! We look
forward to seeing you."
You should arrive at the corner of Washington and Newton Streets in Ayer at 9am. You will be directed to park and then there will be a Drivers Meeting. We will distribute printed route instructions with gimmick questions embedded. The route will also be available on Ride With GPS (instructions on use of this will be provided). The first cars will be off around 10am. We will be finished eating and awards presented by about 2pm.
This is a great event for PCA "first timers."
